Starting position

Piece movement

  • Men move diagonally forward one square
  • Game is played only on dark squares
  • White (light) pieces move first

Capturing

  • Capturing is mandatory
  • Men can capture forward and backward
  • Maximum capture rule applies
  • Captured pieces removed after sequence completes

King

  • A piece becomes king upon reaching the last row
  • Flying king — moves any distance diagonally
  • King can stop on any free square beyond captured piece

End of game

  • The player who captures or blocks all opponent pieces wins
  • Draw on threefold repetition or by mutual agreement
